Cone Pickup Layup (Video)

Written by

Cone Pickup Layup is a great drill for fun, footwork and ballhandling.

Chairs are placed on each elbow (so you can work both hands) facing the sideline, with a ball on each chair

There is a cone set on the top lane marker on each side

The shooter starts on the sideline.

Shooter sprints toward the chair and picks it up.  Cone Grab Layup2
He then makes a drop step to the basket and takes a hard dribble.  Cone Grab Layup3
Shooter then makes a second dribble change (in this case it is thu-the-legs but it could be any dribble change) and scoops up the cone with his free hand.  Cone Grab Layup4

Shooter continues for a layup and then repeats on the other side
